Microsoft Windows, the most popular computer operating system has some unique and safety features to maintain our privacy. We can create our own user accounts and set password to them to personalize our PC according to our requirement. May be to keep our professional and personal stuffs separately or to allow two different users to use single system by making two accounts secured with username and password.
Well, as every coin has two sides this password protection also has a disadvantage that is, it only recognizes the password and not the owner of the system, means anyone with knowledge of your password can access your system and can make any changes to them. Even they can change the password of your system and may not let you know the changed password. Now what?
Nothing , just follow the below steps to get access to your system back. But of course you need to have access to the computer for at least 2 minutes.
Follow below steps to Change Unknown/Forgotten password in Windows
Step 1:
For Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1 Users
First click on start button, then type "cmd" then right click on cmd and select "run as administrator", it will open cmd window.For Window xp Users
Open computer then open local drive c, then open windows folder, then open system 32 folder, now in system 32 folder find a executable file named as "cmd" then right click on cmd and select "run as administrator".
Step 2:
- On command prompt window type net user.
- It will show the list of all users that has been created on this computer
Step 3:
- Now type net user administrator * (Note: type the same command, don't neglect any spaces)
- Here Administrator is account name; if you have to change other account password type that account name.
- Now the command will initialize the process of changing password.
Step 4:
- Now type the new password anything like (abcd123) that you want for your account (without brackets)
- Now again type the same password to confirm the password change
Note: The typed password will not be visible.
That’s it. Now you have successfully changed your password!
